You are…

... the Company Accountant for TMP Inc, a US Entity with a UK HQ and a German Affiliate. You will be supporting the day to day financial transactions and management accounting. You will report into the Group Financial Controller (UK Based) and locally to the Managing Director (US Based). You are focused on making sure everything is running well, there are no surprises. You have a natural instinct for improving efficiency and accuracy. You’re an approachable individual who can easily communicate financial and commercial matters to non-financial managers, with attention to detail and financial service delivery at the heart of what you do. 


The role…

Your key responsibility is producing accurate and timely monthly financial statements for the US business. From entering the sales and purchase ledger invoices to creating the month end P&L and managing everything in-between. You will support the Group Financial Controller in everything US related and add value by making suggestions for improvements in how we do things. You will bring relevant and credible analysis and interpretation to add value to the business and have a natural instinct of making sure actions and tasks are completed by deadlines and what to do to achieve this in a complex and fast paced environment.

You will have responsibility for supporting the implementation of company internal controls and governance. You will support and train through thorough understanding of the TMP way and share your knowledge of financial best practice across the finance team and non-financial managers.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Process and manage the purchase ledger on a day to day basis, including creating suppliers on Sage/Synergist, inputting invoices, ensuring the supplier accounts are accurate and preparing payment runs
  • Process and manage the sales ledger on a day to day basis, including creating clients on Sage/Synergist, raising and issuing invoices and managing credit control
  • Enter the intercompany recharges, including overheads and disbursements
  • Review the monthly revenue recognition process in the US, working with CLS to resolve any differences
  • Own the month end accounting entries and management of depreciation, accruals and prepayments
  • Produce first draft P&L in a timely manner for review by the Finance Director (UK Based)
  • Ensure that the balance sheet recs are correct, completed on time, and queries resolved in a timely basis
  • Work to month end timetables and deadlines
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Ensure that the US Entity is fully compliant with US GAAP
  • Support the Finance Director in ensuring a smooth and efficient Finance Function

  • Experience of working in a Professional Services Company
  • Ability to create and develop a US based Finance Function from scratch
  • Management  / Financial Accounting 3 year minimum
  • Knowledge of US Tax system
  • Experience of dealing with non-financial managers
  • Working with a UK Based Parent (desirable, not essential)
  • Knowledge of Sage 50
