Summary of role

Your key responsibility is producing accurate and timely monthly financial statements for the US and Australian businesses. From entering the sales and purchase ledger invoices to creating the month end P&L and managing everything in-between. You will support the CFO and Group Financial Controller and add value by making suggestions for improvements in how we do things. You will bring relevant and credible analysis and interpretation to add value to the business and have a natural instinct of making sure actions and tasks are completed by deadlines and what to do to achieve this in a complex and fast paced environment.

You will have responsibility for supporting the implementation of company internal controls and governance. You will support and train through thorough understanding of the TMP way and share your knowledge of financial best practice across the finance team and non-financial managers.


Job duties and responsibilities

  • Process and manage the purchase ledger on a day to day basis, including creating suppliers on Sage/Synergist, inputting invoices, ensuring the supplier accounts are accurate and preparing payment runs
  • Process and manage the sales ledger on a day to day basis, including creating clients on Sage/Synergist, raising and issuing invoices and managing credit control
  • Produce and create the intercompany recharges, including overheads and disbursements
  • Review the monthly revenue recognition process i, working with CLS to resolve any differences
  • Own the month end accounting entries and management of depreciation, accruals and prepayments
  • Produce first draft P&L in a timely manner for review by the Managing Director (US Based)
  • Produce the final monthly executive packs, including commentary for review by the CFO and CEO (UK based)
  • Support the Managing Director (US based) with the annual financial planning process
  • Ensure that the balance sheet recs are correct, completed on time, and queries resolved in a timely basis
  • Support the annual audit process, owned by the CFO (UK based)
  • Work with the appointed CPA to ensure all tax filings are accurate and deadlines are met
  • Support Client Services team with client contractual reviews, working with the Managing Director (US based) and appointed attorney.
  • Work to month end timetables and deadlines
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Ensure that the US Entity is fully compliant with US GAAP
  • Support the CFO in ensuring a smooth and efficient Finance Function

Skills and Experience

  • Strong problem solving and the ability to exercise sound judgment and proactively make recommendations based on accurate and timely analyses
  • Ability to create and develop a US based Finance Function
  • Management / Financial Accounting 3 year minimum
  • Knowledge of US Tax system
  • Experience of dealing with non-financial managers
  • Working with a UK Based Parent (desirable, not essential)
  • Knowledge of Sage 50
