Moving from client-side to agency-side?

Heather Barnett (Client Director)

“So… what would I actually do there?”

That was my response when someone suggested I interview for a role in Client Services at an agency. I’d been working client-side in B2B for ten years, which I really enjoyed, but I was ready to move on from my role as Head of Marketing in Oxford.

There are pros and cons to both client-side and agency: it pays to have a good idea of whether the working style will suit you before you make the switch either way.

More than Inside Sales

Erica Neal (Senior Inside Sales Specialist)

I joined TMP just short of three years ago. First impressions – lovely location, gorgeous building, very generous company. Specific to Inside Sales I felt like I was finally somewhere where I would learn something and finally somewhere where such a thing as a free lunch (and breakfast) actually exists!

Within a month at TMP, I’d sung a parody to my CEO, dressed as a pirate and won a 1ltr bottle of Captain Morgan’s Spiced, got my first lead and hit my first monthly target! I had also worked out that the role was unlike any other Inside Sales role I’d held before.

Or read Erica's full blog here for more about why the role is different.

A different kind of data team

Gary Billings (Senior Data Manager)

At TMP we want to break down the siloed, disorganised, frustrating approach that people probably recognise if they’ve worked client-side. We try to create that single view of the customer.

I started working at TMP around seven years ago, and this just wasn’t possible back in the day. Many companies still aren’t doing it. What we do with data makes a tangible difference to our clients’ results.
